On Friday, the Free Theater Festival concluded its 19th session in Jordan, with the theater ambassador, Ali Mahdi, chairing the viewing committee. The evening witnessed the report of the international jury and the announcement of the awards.
Amidst great joy.
“The splendid Amman and its most beautiful people. I have returned to Amman, and its diverse and numerous scenes of splendor. I witness its oldest festival, the nineteenth session of the International Free Theater Festival.” Ambassador Ali Mahdi celebrated the evening, and said in a post on Facebook.
“Two decades have passed, but only a little, and the Free Theater has been keen to attend, not in its aspects, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, but now it is playing roles that are increasing regionally and internationally, and building bridges of well-arranged work.” He added.
“I came there for the first time and I am three decades old. It only decreases a little and does not increase, in which a unique Arab experience was presented in the play (And His Sanctity) written by Yousry Al-Jundi, and directed by Al-Moncef Al-Soeisi, and it was produced by the General Union of Arab Artists, the first years of its founding, and that was an evening that had more to come, in promoting joint Arab creative work. In Amman I sat among my loved ones, the International Arbitration Committee, as Chairman, and their mediation comforted my mind.” He added.
To my left are the creative (Barbara Bertin), founder and president of one of its most important festivals (Italy), the writer and director Saleh Zamanan from Saudi Arabia, the owner of the most famous Arabic opera, our director and actor Abdel Baset Khalifa from Algeria, and the Jordanian director, Mr. Firas Al-Masry, a member and rapporteur, who provides everything we need. It is important and necessary information for performances in the international tracks and it completes nineteen glorious, productive and continuous cycles. The youth festival is in its fifth session,” and Mahdi considered the festival to mean an awareness by the festival administration of the importance of encouraging and caring for young people.
“We watched six performances in the youth track, and seven shows in the international track, which delighted my soul and sight. Then I thought about the trends in the Arab theatrical performing arts and these bridges that convey them to the regional and global space.” He said.
