On Saturday, the Buthaina Khader Makki Cultural Center for Creativity, Enlightenment and the Arts in Cairo organized an evening celebrating the Sudanese novelist Abdelaziz Baraka Sakin, who resides in Austria, and who is considered one of the most distinguished Sudanese novelists in the Arab, African and international world. He lives in Cairo and announced a few days ago the signing of a contract for a new edition of his novel (The Windmills).
Reality and the marginalized
It is noteworthy that Sakin has made clear efforts in the field of human rights through writing novels, as his writings are characterized by realism and objectivity, on behalf of the marginalized, the homeless, the simple, and the intellectuals alike, and the sublime and sacred spirit that expresses the pain and aspirations of the oppressed, the toilers, the tormented in the land, and the intellectuals as well. In this context, he established the Novelist Buthaina Khidr Makki Center hosted an evening in honor of his visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, which extended for only one week, and lasted for five hours of discussion and enjoyment.
Enriching dialogue
The invitation came in particular to a number of invitees interested in Sudanese public affairs in diaspora countries, people of culture, arts, and literature, and young Sudanese, Egyptian, and Yemeni novelists of both sexes and different Arab nationalities. The celebration was summarized in the narratives of the life of the celebrated writer through his writings, his various political and cultural positions, and his distinctive novels. The evening also witnessed interventions of a cultured presence that enriched the dialogue with sociability, enjoyment, and direct questions from a resident, with a kind of flexibility and spontaneity that is distinctive and without limits, to which the writer responds and interacts with the same ease.

The celebration was witnessed by a large number of symbols of Sudanese, Egyptian, and Yemeni society interested in the field of culture, media, thought, and literature, and those interested in human rights issues in various fields. It was attended by Dr. Nizar Abdo Ghanem, lecturer at Sudanese universities, the novelist Zainab Balil, Dr. Sami Al-Sir, the novelist Badr Al-Din Al-Ataq, Muhammad Al-Hassan, the novelist Suzan Kashif, who lives in Britain, Amal Muhammad, the Egyptian novelist, critic, and storyteller, Dr. Fouad, the well-known Egyptian critic, the Sudanese novelist, Hassan Muhammad Saeed, the Egyptian writer, critic, and director Al-Qasa magazine, Fouad Morsi, and the Egyptian writer, Amal Al-Sharif. The audience also included the Sudanese writer, Umaima Abdullah, and the journalist, Muhammad Adam Baraka, the young man who is active in the press, cultural and social media, the critic and novelist Amani Mohamed Saleh, the artist and actor Nizar Mohamed Gomaa, Moamen Mohamed, the representative of the US Library of Congress in Sudan, and a significant number of people of culture, thought and literature who decorated the celebration with their elegant presence.

It is noteworthy that the Buthaina Khidr Makki Center has been holding such celebrations and ceremonies that it presents to stimulate the cultural population, dealing with important positive topics in light of the conditions of war that Sudan has been going through for more than a year, and the famous novelist Buthaina Khidr Makki works throughout the year to pay attention to issues of thought, literature, and the arts and cultural heritage in diaspora countries and treating them through dialogue, discussion, study, criticism and evaluation through conference sessions, meetings and forums in a worthy effort that is credited to them.
