Khartoum’s Planning Committee Resumes Operations
Sudan Events – Updates
The Khartoum State has decided to immediately resume the work of its planning committee after its suspension during the war. The committee will review urgent files related to public interest, reorganize service provision sites, and commercial areas.
This decision was made during a joint meeting chaired by Khartoum Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza, which included leaders from the Ministry of Urban Planning, headed by Moulana Ahmed Yahya, Director General of Lands, and the Executive Director of Karari Locality, Ahmed Al-Mustafa, alongside representatives of the traders from Libya Market.
The meeting stressed the importance of creating new market spaces that accommodate commercial activities in line with the current phase’s requirements. It also emphasized the need for proper planning to avoid congestion and facilitate the smooth flow of commerce. The governor expressed the state government’s interest in finding locations within Karari Locality to establish markets for traders and shop owners who lost their businesses due to the criminal acts of looters and rebels, who plundered public and private property.
