Kuwait Launches $2 Million in Humanitarian Aid for Rain and Flood Victims
Sudan Events – Updates
On Sunday, Kuwait officially launched its humanitarian aid campaign for the Sudanese people through the Kuwaiti Direct Aid Society, providing assistance to thousands of families affected by floods and war in Sudan, with a total cost of around $2 million. This aid will benefit more than 12,000 families, sufficient for each family’s needs for 45 days.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Red Sea State Governor Mustafa Mohamed Nour, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Sudan Fahd Al-Dhafiri, Sudanese Deputy Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid Othman Khogali, and officials from the Direct Aid Society’s Sudan office.
Ambassador Al-Dhafiri explained that this relief project is the first direct distribution by the Direct Aid Society, aimed at assisting those affected by the floods in the Arbaat Dam and Tokar areas in Red Sea State. The project involves distributing food baskets to over 12,000 families, providing enough for 45 days. He noted that the aid distribution will extend across Sudan.
Ambassador Al-Dhafiri also mentioned that this assistance comes after the second airlift of aid, which delivered hundreds of tons of food, shelter, medical supplies, and ambulances via 12 planes. This will be followed by a relief ship from the Kuwaiti Relief Society, in partnership with the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Organization, carrying approximately 2,500 tons of aid, expected to arrive later this month. This effort is part of the ongoing partnerships between Kuwaiti charities and organizations to deliver humanitarian aid.
