An American Newspaper: The Sudanese Army Leads Momentum in the Field Initiative

Sudan Events – Agencies

The “Politico” daily specializing in U.S. national security published a commentary noting that for the first time since the intensification of fighting in Sudan, the Sudanese Army has achieved military gains on the battlefield at the expense of the rebellious Rapid Support Forces.

According to the “Investigator” website, Politico stated that the Sudanese Armed Forces said they had regained large parts of the capital, Khartoum, after nearly two years of civil war.

The U.S. daily, closely aligned with the White House and the National Security Council, explained that this news indicates that the Sudanese Army might finally have the upper hand in the conflict after months of relative stalemate.

It added that the Sudanese Army is currently leading the momentum to break the two-year siege on the capital imposed by the rebellious paramilitary group known as the Rapid Support Forces. It noted that the fighting between the two factions has torn the country apart and pushed it into what is considered the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.

Politico also highlighted that both sides have been accused of committing war crimes, but the United States has accused and sanctioned the Rapid Support Forces for committing genocide. It added that the civil war in Sudan has become a center for competing powers’ proxy operations for influence, with the UAE supporting the Rapid Support Forces.
