Calls to Ban Copper Trading and Export

Former Secretary-General of the Federation of Industrial Chambers, Abdulrahman Abbas, has called on authorities to prohibit the commercial trade and export of copper. Speaking to Sudan Events, he urged officials to issue an official decree criminalizing copper trading, likening it to narcotics and demanding legal action against those involved.

Abbas attributed this demand to a systematic operation by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and their collaborators, known as Shafshafa, who allegedly burn electrical transformers, cables, and factories to steal copper.
