Hamas: We Appreciate the Position of Jordan and Egypt Rejecting Displacement

Hamas praised the position of Jordan and Egypt rejecting displacement and reaffirming that there is an Arab plan for the reconstruction of Gaza without displacing its people.

Hamas considered the Jordanian position as an extension of its stance against displacement, settlement, and alternative homeland projects, which seek to erase the identity of the Palestinian people and end their just cause.

Hamas also appreciated the stance of Arab brothers and all countries that expressed their rejection of any plans aiming to displace the Palestinian people or liquidate their national rights.

Hamas emphasized that “our people will remain committed to their land and homeland, and will not accept any solutions that diminish their legitimate rights to freedom and independence.”

This comes amidst a wave of widespread anger over the controversial proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump to “seize Gaza.” Both Jordan and Egypt have refused to accept large numbers of refugees from Gaza. The controversial proposal, presented by Trump, involves moving Palestinians from Gaza to the neighboring countries of Egypt and Jordan, with the United States taking “long-term ownership” of the strip.

Trump’s comments angered the Arab world when he stated that Palestinians would not enjoy the right of return to their homes under his plan to rebuild the sector destroyed by Israeli attacks. Trump said about Gaza on Tuesday: “We’re going to take it. We’ll keep it and we’ll be proud of it. We’ll eventually make it a place that provides many jobs for people in the Middle East,” adding that his plan “will bring peace” to the region.
