The South Kordofan Cabinet, chaired by Governor Mohammad Ibrahim Abdel-Karim and its members, approved the performance report for the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources in a meeting at the Government Secretariat after extensive discussions and deliberations by the members.

Mr. Ibrahim Hamdeen Koko, the Secretary-General of the State Government and the official spokesperson for the Cabinet, confirmed in a press statement that the council approved the 2024 performance report for the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources, which covered several aspects related to various sectors.

He pointed out that the council focused on the development and enhancement of livestock and fishery resources, localizing industries, in addition to exploring the potential exploitation of the state’s mineral resources.

Hamdeen confirmed that the state government succeeded in cultivating 600 feddans for localizing improved seed varieties of Dhura (sorghum) to address the issue of seed imports, especially for small-scale farmers. The government also targeted the cultivation of three million feddans using both mechanized and traditional farming methods. However, challenges led to a season that did not meet expectations.

He predicted that the upcoming agricultural season would witness abundance and significant improvement in production.

For his part, the Minister of Production and Economic Resources, Sid Hamad Kafi, explained that the council approved the 2024 performance report for its three sectors: agriculture, economic resources, and livestock and fisheries. He commended the state government’s efforts in providing financial support to ensure the success of the agricultural season in the seed improvement localization project, confirming the ministry’s commitment to providing and localizing all types of seeds for various crops.

Kafi stated that the government’s support and backing is a sign and incentive for the continued increase in production and the expansion of agricultural areas. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the state government, its executive bodies, and all the field workers for their dedication to their work.
