Singa Executive Discusses Agricultural Season Challenges with Production Minister in Sennar

Today, the Executive Director of Singa Locality, Nasser Abdullah Nasser, met with the Acting Minister of Production and Economic Resources in Sennar State, Engineer Suham Mansour Mohammed Hamza, to discuss joint cooperation for achieving sustainable agricultural development in the locality. The talks focused on ways to advance the agricultural sector and enhance food security. The meeting was attended by the Local Security Committee and several departments from the Ministry of Agriculture.

The Executive Director confirmed his continuous follow-up on all agricultural activities within the city and expressed readiness to provide all necessary support and facilities to develop the sector. He also stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to solve farmers’ problems and mentioned the existence of real opportunities for agricultural advancement, including implementing projects that generate financial returns to support services.

He reaffirmed his full readiness to provide all forms of support to the agricultural sector and resolve its challenges.

Engineer Suham Mansour reviewed all the problems, obstacles, and challenges facing the agricultural sector and called for addressing these issues. She stated that the ministry has developed strategic directives to boost the sector and that current priorities include rehabilitating the damaged agricultural areas, especially those affected by recent attacks. She commended the outstanding efforts and performance of the local executive body and the fruitful cooperation in developing the sector and supporting farmers through comprehensive service provision.

Engineer Mohammed Ahmed, Director of the Irrigated Sector, explained that the sector faces several problems due to a lack of resources, high agricultural input costs, difficulties in pest control, and weak financing for small-scale farmers.

Engineer Hiba Mohammed Mustafa from Singa Locality outlined the challenges facing the local agricultural office, emphasizing the need for a mechanism to achieve food security and calling for a joint action plan to enhance cooperation in the agricultural field.

The meeting stressed the importance of increasing production and productivity and agreed on the need for continued coordination and cooperation to ensure the success of the agricultural season.
