The Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Malik Agar, met on Wednesday in his office with the European Union Ambassador to Sudan, Wolfram Vetter, in the presence of Ambassador Jamal Malik, Director of the European Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The meeting discussed the Sudanese government’s rejection of holding the Berlin Conference without its participation, noting that it would be a repetition of the Paris and London conferences.
Agar affirmed that the Sudanese government does not reject engaging positively with proposed initiatives, but stressed that they must meet the aspirations of the Sudanese people and align with the government’s previously stated vision for achieving security and stability.
On the humanitarian front, the Deputy Chairman reiterated the government’s commitment to providing full support to humanitarian organizations operating in Sudan, noting the extension of operations at the Adré border crossing with Chad until next June.
He added that the government looks forward to securing support for the large-scale voluntary return movement underway across the country, as well as assistance in rebuilding civilian institutions affected by the war—steps that would encourage citizens to return and resume normal life.
For his part, the EU Ambassador expressed readiness to engage with the Sudanese government to reach a lasting peaceful solution to the ongoing war.
