The official spokesperson for the Joint Forces, Mutawakkil Ali Wakil, announced on Saturday that the Joint Forces had succeeded in recapturing the Abu Qamra area in North Darfur State during a military operation carried out in close coordination with the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Popular Resistance.
In a statement to Al-Mohaqiq news website, Wakil said that the Joint Forces, the Armed Forces, and the Popular Resistance had achieved a “great victory” in the area, inflicting heavy losses in personnel and military equipment on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which he described as a rebel militia.
Wakil explained that Abu Qamra is a strategically important area administratively affiliated with Karnoi locality in North Darfur State. Its significance stems from its geographical location connecting several towns and localities across the region, as well as its role as a key logistical and supply hub, making it the site of decisive battles.
He noted that the area serves as a strategic gateway for controlling supply routes and advancing toward the city of El Fasher. Its military importance, he said, lies in its position as a critical link on the northwestern axis leading to the city, which serves as a central hub connecting the region to Sudan’s western border.
The spokesperson further stated that the area’s logistical value is reflected in its ability to provide full control and security over supply routes coming from the western border and various parts of North Darfur, depending on battlefield developments.
Wakil added that Abu Qamra also functions as an advanced launch and deployment point in military operations, offering favorable geographical cover for field movements and intelligence activities, thereby strengthening control over the approaches leading to El Fasher.
