Sanders Condemns UAE Support for the Rapid Support Forces, Accusing It of Involvement in a “Campaign of Genocide” in Sudan

US Senator Bernie Sanders has issued an explicit condemnation of the United Arab Emirates over what he described as its “continued financial and military support” for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan.

Sanders made the remarks during a speech in which he said that the UAE continues to support the RSF “as it wages a campaign of genocide and destruction in the Sudanese civil war.”

He added that this support comes at a time when vast areas of Sudan are witnessing mass killings, displacement, and widespread destruction, arguing that its continuation constitutes a direct contribution to the worsening humanitarian crisis.

Sanders called for the UAE’s role to be condemned, linking it to what he described as a misguided US policy of supporting wars and conflicts rather than focusing on protecting civilians and addressing humanitarian crises.

It is worth noting that the Rapid Support Forces have been accused by human rights and international organizations of committing widespread violations in Sudan, including mass killings and ethnic cleansing, particularly in the Darfur region.
