Sudan Events – Agencies

The Forces of Freedom and Change – the Democratic Bloc, presented its national project to the Sudanese political forces, at the conclusion of the meetings of the political committee of the bloc in the administrative capital, Port Sudan, in the Red Sea State, eastern Sudan.

In a press conference following the meeting at the Marina Hotel (formerly Coral), the head of the political committee of the bloc, Mini Arko Minawi, said: “The Democratic Bloc is presenting a national project to the Sudanese people that reflects the aspirations of Sudanese citizens towards building a state of citizenship that accommodates everyone, and calls for a broad national alignment that incorporates the changes in the current political context.”

He continued, “The meeting recommended the formation of a committee to communicate with all political and social forces to achieve the national project, starting with an inclusive Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue as a key step towards sustainable solutions to the current national crisis.”

Minawi confirmed the Democratic Bloc’s unwavering commitment to Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue to achieve stability, national consensus, and the establishment of an equal citizenship state. He emphasized openness to everyone and the start of practical steps in the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue without exclusion.

Minawi pointed out that the meeting discussed ending the war and finding a political solution through Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue, as well as the governance system during the transitional period and how to form institutions.

Dialogue with the Elephant

For his part, the Deputy Head of the Democratic Bloc, Jibril Ibrahim, stated that victory would be achieved soon, and the bloc “condemns the continuous support for rebellion coming from Libya, Chad, Kenya, and Uganda via South Sudan.”

Regarding the position on the UAE, Jibril added, “We have no issue with the Emirati people as they are dear and friendly, and we have long-standing ties with them. However, the Emirati political leadership is killing Sudanese through supporting rebellion.”

He added, “The political solution is important, but we must speak to the elephant rather than the elephant’s shadow. It will be a waste of time if people insist on negotiating with the shadow of the elephant. The Sudanese people do not have time to waste with proxies and tools. We want to deal with the decision-makers who have used their resources and internal tools to cause the war. The conversation should not be with mediators, but should lead to a fundamental solution to this issue.”

Final Statement

The final statement from the political committee, which was reviewed by “Al-Muhaiqir” news site, said: “The political committee of the Democratic Bloc concluded its meetings in Port Sudan, held from January 14 to 16, with full attendance of the committee members, chaired by the head of the political committee, Mini Arko Minawi.”

It continued: “The meeting praised the significant victories achieved by the Sudanese Armed Forces, the joint forces, the security forces, and the mobilized forces in confronting the rebel Rapid Support Militia. It expresses appreciation for the Sudanese people’s stance and their support for their armed forces and national institutions. It commends their patience and endurance in the face of the heinous actions of the Rapid Support Militia, affirming that these victories represent a significant step in maintaining Sudan’s unity, both land and people.”

The statement added: “The meeting strongly condemns the violations committed by the rebel Rapid Support Militia against the Sudanese people and state institutions. It mourns the martyrs, both civilian and military, and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured and the return of the missing.”

The meeting expressed its firm rejection of the American sanctions imposed on General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, considering these sanctions as “false and inaccurate, as they attributed actions to the Sudanese Armed Forces and its leader that they did not commit, aiming to justify the crimes of the Rapid Support Militia.” It added: “The bloc affirms that these sanctions represent an unjustified bias, a violation of Sudan’s sovereignty, and implicit encouragement for a criminal militia that seeks to tear the country apart.”

It continued: “The meeting condemns the chaotic practices and grave violations against citizens in some villages and towns in the Al-Jazeera State, warning against taking the law into one’s hands and returning to the era of personal vengeance. It calls for the accountability of those who commit crimes and violations and cooperate with the Rapid Support Militia according to the law. It urges the people of Al-Jazeera and all Sudanese to uphold the values of respecting the law and practicing sound actions that protect citizens and preserve Sudan’s social fabric, urging the rejection of hate speech and the promotion of national unity.”

The meeting also praised the speech and decisions of the Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, especially the decision to form a committee to combat immoral actions that contradict the values of justice, investigate the crimes and violations that occurred in some villages of Al-Jazeera, and ensure adherence to the law.

The meeting discussed the arrangements for convening the leadership of the Democratic Bloc and preparing for its third conference as an important organizational step to discuss national issues, as well as launching workshops aimed at enhancing the capacity and capabilities of civil society, youth, and women in various fields with the participation of local and international experts.

The Democratic Bloc emphasized the necessity of broadening consultations on amendments to the constitutional document and ensuring that the amendments are made in accordance with its provisions.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of unifying international initiatives to resolve the Sudanese crisis, stressing that the solution should be Sudanese-Sudanese and reflect the aspirations of the Sudanese people, free from any interventions that undermine Sudan’s sovereignty and independence.

The statement praised the success of the executive body in conducting the Sudanese Secondary School exams amidst these challenging circumstances, wishing success and good fortune to the students, and calling for exceptional exams for students who were prevented from taking them due to the war.
