Details of a Heated and Angry Statement by the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris said he is following with deep anger, pain, and a profound sense of responsibility the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the city of El Fasher, where millions of innocent civilians are living under a suffocating and inhumane siege imposed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia—one of the most appalling examples of collective extortion and systematic starvation in modern history.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Prime Minister expressed his deep appreciation and unwavering solidarity with the unarmed civilians of El Fasher—women, the elderly, and children—who, he said, have demonstrated to the international community that human dignity cannot be bought or broken, despite the cruel siege and the brutal practices they face, devoid of any morality, compassion, or humanity.

The Prime Minister praised the heroic role played by the Sudanese Armed Forces, other regular forces, joint forces, and all supporting and mobilized units in their courageous defense of El Fasher and its defenseless civilians.

He stressed that the government will not stand idly by in the face of this heinous crime and pledged to do everything within his power—politically, diplomatically, and humanely—to break the unjust siege and ensure the urgent delivery of relief to civilians in El Fasher, who are suffering from systematic starvation imposed by the siege, amid disgraceful international silence.

The Prime Minister called on the UN Secretary-General, as well as international and humanitarian organizations, to take immediate action to pressure the militia to open humanitarian corridors and to stop using hunger as a weapon against civilians—an act that constitutes a full-fledged war crime under international humanitarian law.

He reminded the international community that the militia is the only party defying and refusing to implement UN Security Council Resolution 2736, despite the Sudanese government’s public endorsement and the recent agreement to a ceasefire by the Chairman of the Sovereign Council in response to a request from the UN Secretary-General. This clearly exposes the party responsible for blocking humanitarian aid and for the systematic starvation and terrorization of innocent, defenseless civilians.

The Prime Minister urged international and human rights organizations to uphold their moral and legal responsibilities and warned against the consequences of continued silence in the face of such crimes—including the targeting of civilians fleeing the horror of the siege and bombardment in El Fasher.

He also recalled the attacks on relief convoys, the killing of drivers, the looting of shipments, and assaults on aid workers—occurring without any firm stance or genuine condemnation from international organizations.

He emphasized that what is happening in El Fasher is not merely a humanitarian crisis but a major crime being committed in full view of the world. He added, “While the Sudanese government is bravely assuming its responsibilities, it calls on the international community to move beyond lukewarm statements and take serious, effective action to pressure those who are besieging, starving, and attacking civilians.”

Idris further stated that the deliberate and systematic destruction of hospitals has led to their shutdown as a result of militia attacks using suicide and strategic drones, endangering the lives of millions of innocent civilians.
