Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel-Aati received Sudanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Omar Siddiq on Wednesday, where they discussed bilateral relations and recent developments in Sudan.
The official spokesperson for Egypt’s Foreign Ministry, Tameem Khalaf, stated that Minister Abdel-Aati offered his condolences to Sudan’s leadership, government, and people for the victims of recent landslides in Darfur.
Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for Sudan, highlighting Egypt’s efforts and participation in regional and international initiatives aimed at resolving the Sudanese crisis. He emphasized the importance of a Sudanese-led comprehensive solution that would lead to a ceasefire and launch an inclusive political process to end the current crisis and alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.
The minister stressed Egypt’s firm rejection of any attempts to threaten Sudan’s unity, undermine its national institutions, or infringe upon its sovereignty.
The discussions also covered the facilities provided by Egypt to support the voluntary return of Sudanese citizens, as well as efforts to support reconstruction, recovery, and development in Sudan.
Both sides reviewed joint initiatives to rehabilitate Sudan’s infrastructure, including electricity, water, health, and education sectors. Minister Abdel-Aati welcomed the upcoming second Egypt-Sudan Business Forum and the joint trade committee meeting in Cairo later this year.
