Qatar Condemns Violations Against Sudanese, Calls for End to Ongoing Crisis

Qatar expressed deep concern over the continued deterioration of human rights conditions in Sudan, along with the worsening humanitarian, economic, and social suffering of its people due to the ongoing war.

Hind Abdulrahman Al-Muftah, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva, condemned grave crimes and violations committed against the Sudanese population, including the targeting of vital facilities and infrastructure. She urged that such actions must stop and their perpetrators be held accountable.

Speaking during the interactive dialogue on the Fact-Finding Mission’s report on Sudan, Al-Muftah called on all warring parties to put national interests first, resume inclusive and serious dialogue, and end the fighting to restore security, prevent division of the country, and allow unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid.

She reaffirmed Qatar’s firm position in support of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and stability, and its commitment to stand by the Sudanese people in achieving their aspirations for peace, development, and prosperity.

Qatar, she noted, has allocated over $75 million to meet urgent needs in Sudan and recently announced an additional $10 million to support conflict-affected women and girls, including social and psychological empowerment programs. Qatar has also provided emergency support to the health and education sectors, including ambulances, medical supplies, and essential medicines.

Al-Muftah further urged intensified regional and international efforts to end the war through peaceful means and agreed frameworks, particularly the Jeddah Declaration, with the inclusion of all parties in a political solution. She reiterated Qatar’s rejection of any form of interference in Sudan’s internal affairs and called on the international community to increase its humanitarian support to the country.
