The Joint Force of Armed Struggle Movements announced the arrest of several foreign mercenaries, including individuals affiliated with South Sudan, who were found in possession of compelling evidence confirming their direct involvement in combat alongside the rebel militia.
In a statement issued Friday, the force said the development constitutes renewed and conclusive proof of the militia’s reliance on foreign mercenaries in its war against the Sudanese people—a practice observed since the outbreak of the conflict in desert fronts, North Darfur, and other operational areas, in blatant violation of Sudan’s sovereignty and international humanitarian law.
The Joint Force also condemned another grave crime committed by the militia: the recruitment and deployment of children in combat, in flagrant violation of international conventions protecting children during armed conflicts. It said several child soldiers were arrested on Thursday after being forcibly exploited in military operations, and that appropriate legal and humanitarian measures will be taken in accordance with applicable standards.
The statement added that the Joint Force of Armed Struggle Movements, alongside the Sudanese Armed Forces and allied support units, reaffirm their full commitment to international humanitarian law, the protection of civilians, and the pursuit of accountability for all those involved in war crimes and violations against the Sudanese people, as they continue fighting in defense of land, dignity, and national sovereignty.
