British Embassy in Khartoum Works from Addis Ababa

The United Kingdom announced it has established a new British office for Sudan in Addis Ababa until the British embassy in Khartoum resumes. The United Kingdom said that this step makes it the first Western country to establish an operational office for Sudan in the region.
It added that the staff of the British Office in Sudan will continue to work in Ethiopia to support the United Kingdom’s diplomatic and humanitarian goals to achieve peace and stability for the people of Sudan, as well as continue to help provide limited remote consular support to British citizens in Sudan.
Andrew Mitchell, State Minister for Development in Africa at the British Foreign Officr, Commonwealth and Development Office, thanked the Government of Ethiopia for enabling the establishment of this office.
