Specifications Review of Ice Factories in Damer

Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization, River Nile sector, organized field visits to ice factories in the Damer locality. Sector director Ahmed Sid Ahmed Omar stated that the purpose of the visit was to review the industrial facilities to ensure they meet the standard specifications.
The industrial inspection team reported that the review includes checking the sources of water used in production, the production hall, storage facilities, as well as the flooring, ceiling, walls, and ventilation. It also involves reviewing the essential documents of the facility, such as health licenses, commercial licenses, and health cards for workers, to ensure the ice product meets the drinking water specification number 044/2016. The final product (ice) must not be fragile or easily broken during handling, should be clear, colorless, and free from air bubbles and white ice nodules. Samples are taken from the primary water source, as well as from the final product, for testing to ensure compliance with the standard specifications and technical rules. Additionally, consultations are provided to guarantee product quality and safe use for consumers. The organization also prepares a technical report for the visit and follows up on it.
