Aston Villa and Everton, the competing duo in the English Premier League, announced on Monday that the former had signed defensive midfielder Amadou Onana, coming from the latter.
Neither Villa nor Everton revealed the financial details of the contract, but British media reported that the value of the deal was about 50 million pounds ($64.6 million). Villa did not reveal the length of the 22-year-old Belgian international’s contract.
Born in Dakar, Senegal, Onana began his career at German club Hamburg before moving to Lille in the French League in 2021. Onana participated in 75 matches with Everton after joining them in 2022.
Villa finished in fourth place in the English Premier League last season.
